Brenda Loft, C.N.M.
Brenda "Breia" Loft, CNM grew up in Nashville, TN. She attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas on a cheerleading scholarship where she studied Biology and Exercise Science. After she married in 1991, she transferred to Columbus State University near Ft. Benning, GA where her husband was stationed. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1995. Upon graduation she worked as a labor and delivery RN at The Medical Center in Columbus, GA. She then moved to be close to family and worked at Centennial Women's Hospital in Nashville, TN while her husband was stationed in Korea.
Breia fell in love with labor and delivery and really enjoyed supporting women and their families during that special time in their lives…so much she wanted to work in more of a provider role. Breia attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN 1996-1997. During her time at Vanderbilt, she was appointed by the dean to serve on the credentialing committee and graduated Magnum Cum Laude with a Master of Science degree in Nursing in 1997. Breia became a nurse-midwife in December 1997.
After graduating from Vanderbilt Breia worked in an inner city public health clinic in downtown Nashville, TN providing care to female patients with unique health care needs. These patients would not have received prenatal care without the help of this clinic. While working here, she also served as obstetric mentor to several different family practice medical students from Meharry and Vanderbilt University during their Obstetric component of their medical training.
After relocating with her family to Atlanta, GA, Breia was a part of a private practice delivering at Piedmont Atlanta. During this time she really developed her labor support skills needed to assist patients desiring a more natural approach to the labor and delivery process.
Breia became a part of a larger practice with 5 doctors and 4 nurse-midwives. She was with Roswell Ob-Gyn, delivering at Northside Atlanta, for several years.
In 2007 Breia moved to a smaller, rural practice in Jasper, GA and was the first nurse-midwife to deliver at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. This community was underserved medically and Breia helped the established Ob practice of Women's Specialty Center of North Georgia fill that need. She then made the move to Cumming in July 2009 to join North Pointe Ob-Gyn.
Breia has been married to her husband, Stephen Loft, for 19 years. He served in the Army for 10+ years and is now the purchaser for Masterpiece Lighting in Atlanta. They have two high school aged daughters, Korey and Savannah, who attend Etowah High School in Cherokee County. The girls are both involved in high school and competitive cheerleading and keep their parents very busy. They also have a newer addition to their family, Liam, who has been a wonderful, yet quite surprising blessing for the entire family. The Loft family is also very active in their church.
