The Gynecologists at North Pointe OB/GYN Associates provide Gynecologic care for teen-agers and adolescents in Cumming and the surrounding areas. The physicians and Certified Nurse-Midwives at our practice consider it a special privilege when we are asked to see your daughters or any young woman, as they begin the transition through adolescence into womanhood. We take the skill and trust seriously that is needed to help these patients understand how the life-long habits of good preventative care and thoughtful reproductive health choices will enhance their quality of life long into their later years.
The practitioners at North Pointe OB/GYN Associates follow current adolescent health care for women's wellness guidelines recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as those from other acceptable, authoritative sources. The first visit is recommended between ages thirteen and fifteen, and should be followed by annual visits. This first visit allows the establishment of a relationship and open communication and education. It does not usually involve a pelvic examination, although certain circumstances may indicate that one is appropriate. Topics discussed include but are not limited to the following:
• Menstruation
• Normal development
• Sexual activity and safe sexual practices
• Contraception
• Smoking, drugs and alcohol
• Screening for emotional and behavioral issues, hypertension, substance abuse/issues, sexual activity, depression and school performance
Atlanta HPV Vaccination
If you live north of Atlanta and are looking for a Gynecology practice that provides HPV Vaccinations, call North Pointe OB/GYN Associates. We offer Gardasil ®, an FDA approved vaccine for four types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This vaccine is best given between the ages of eleven and thirteen, and is most effective before sexual activity. It involves an injection given at zero, two and six months, and is usually covered by most insurances.
